Brett Reilly, Dr. Energy, explains the solar features of his No Energy Bill Home in Milford Delaware.

The home’s solar panels are rated 4kw, producing 6,000 kw annually for use in the home or to be returned to the power grid. Credit is given by the power company when energy is sent to the grid and in addition solar renewable energy credits (SREC) are currently generated for each 1,000 kw generated. In one year, this home will generate approximately 6 SRECs, which are sold on the open market and currently valued at about $350 each. Thus, the homeowner will receive about $1900 in addition to having a lower power bill.
